Meaning: when you wash your hands of something you start keeping away from an activity you used to be a part of, because you lost your interest in it.
For example:
- Kate washed her hands of the entire charity fund after understanding that she was supposed to steal donated money.
- Salieri washed his hands of Sorriso after finding out he was a checked “black player”.
- Big Vik is not going to wash his hands of politics, because that’s the way he does the crime without getting convicted.
