Remember: You are the most responsible player among reds (peaceful citizens), but never try to win without your team.
The biggest problem of the Sheriff is the moment, when he reveals. The table has to choose between you and the false Sheriff. It is very important to know who you check during the night, as well as whom you nominated and voted against.
There are often such cases, when after the first day of discussion, players don’t even suggest whom to check during upcoming night.
If several players asked to check some player for the next night, you probably should take their advice. If the player turns to be black (mafia), then players who asked him to be checked are most likely citizens. Anyway, they shouldn’t be eliminated during the day vote without being checked, until Sheriff is at the table.
The possible scenarios of the game on the 2nd day:
–You were killed right on the first night – this is a disaster for reds. Don’t hesitate, tell that you are Sheriff and give your check;
–the checked red player was killed. Not that bad, but at the same time – not very well for the red team. But the problem is, when you revealed and gave your checks, it would be hard to convince the table that you are the real Sheriff.
–checked player turned to be red and wasn’t killed. Try to show him with a gesture that he is checked, while others don’t see it. If you see that the checked player is about to be voted off, try to protect him from being killed. Do your best! But whatever happens, don’t reveal yourself. Your life is more important then the life of any red player.
– checked player is black. Nominate this player, but carefully, telling that his speeches were bad or something like that, and certainly vote against this player. If his candidacy had been already nominated, it is recommended to make no nominations, because if that second player turns to be red, citizens will not believe you in future. It is definitely not a Sheriff’s move to nominate the red player, having checked black one. So, nominate nobody and vote against checked black. Watch carefully if the player who nominated him, voted accordingly. Very often on the second day black player nominates his teammate but doesn’t vote against him. Though sometimes they take that risk, if they see that there won’t be a majority to eliminate a black partner. Anyway, if the player nominated checked “mafia” but didn’t vote against him, this player is worth of checking during upcoming night.
Remember: don’t reveal yourself on the second day if there wasn’t any threat that you can be voted off. Supposedly, your candidacy is one of the last, and you see, that most of the votes will go to you. If you end up being a candidate during the crossfire, either show a Sheriff gesture (the way to show that you are the Sheriff) or say it aloud even if it costs a third penalty. You will be killed at night anyway, but at least you will have one more chance to make an extra check.
In all other cases if you reveal too early it only will get worse for the citizens.
